Road Safety Campaign
- 02 June 2025: When sleep takes over, control slips away.

The Campaign Starts Now!
Today marks the official launch of our campaign!
We’re excited to unveil an initiative that is close to our hearts – one that we hope will inspire, engage, and create real impact.
“When sleep takes over, control slips away.”
In Mauritius, several road accidents each year are tragically caused by drivers falling asleep at the wheel — especially on long coastal roads, after night shifts, or during early morning commutes.
Whether you're a taxi driver, a tour operator, or just heading home after a family gathering, drowsy driving is dangerous driving. Many believe they can "push through" tiredness — but the reality is, closing your eyes for even a second can cost a life.
At Coquille Bonheur, we believe that every life matters. As part of our road safety campaign, we urge drivers — both locals and tourists — to prioritize rest before any journey, however short. Because on our beautiful island, even a moment’s sleep can lead to lifelong consequences.

- 16 June 2025: The Faster You Go, The Less Time You Have To Live.

The Campaign Continues!
Today, we shift gears and bring focus to another deadly threat on our roads: Speeding.
It’s fast. It’s reckless. And too often in Mauritius — it’s fatal.
“Faster drive… shorter life.”
Across our island, road accidents linked to excessive speed remain alarmingly frequent. Whether it’s on our coastal highways, winding inland routes, or urban streets — every extra kilometre per hour drastically increases the chances of a crash, injury, or worse… death.
From solo motorcyclists to buses and private vehicles, speeding continues to claim lives and destroy families. What many see as "just being in a hurry" often ends in tragedy — in mere seconds.
At Coquille Bonheur, we believe in more than just beautiful journeys — we believe in safe arrivals. Through this campaign, we are committed to raising awareness about the devastating impact of speeding and encouraging all road users — locals, tourists, and transport providers — to slow down and value life over time.

Put your phone down. Drive to stay alive.
Today, we shift gears and bring focus to another silent killer on our roads: mobile phone use while driving.📵
Too many lives are lost on our roads because of one careless glance at a phone. In Mauritius, distracted driving—especially mobile phone use—has contributed to a rising number of serious and fatal accidents in recent years. A message or call is never worth a life. Let’s choose safety over shortcuts. Stay focused. Stay present. Every second behind the wheel counts.

- 10 July 2025: One Drop, One Mistake. No Second Chance.

"Don’t Drink and Drive – Arrive Alive."
🛑 Today, we spotlight one of the deadliest risks on our roads: driving under the influence of alcohol.
Alcohol impairs your ability to drive safely — even one drink can slow your reflexes, blur your vision, and cloud your judgment. In Mauritius, drunk driving is a serious and recurring cause of road crashes, especially during weekends, public holidays, and festive events.
According to official data in Mauritius:
🔹 In 2023, 138 people lost their lives in road accidents — a 31% increase from 108 fatalities in 2022.
🔹 A significant number of these deaths involved alcohol-impaired driving, particularly during weekends and festive periods.
🔹 During festive seasons like December to March, hundreds of drivers are caught for drink driving — in one period alone, over 440 cases were recorded.
🔹 The legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit is 0.05%, and penalties include up to Rs 50,000 in fines, 12 months' license suspension, and up to 5 years’ imprisonment.
🛑 Drinking affects judgment, slows your reflexes, and increases the risk of a fatal crash.
No celebration, no excuse, no second chances.
✅ Plan your night — assign a sober driver.
✅ Use a taxi or call someone you trust.
✅ Don’t let one drink cost a life — yours or someone else’s
