Ile aux Aigrettes is a tiny coral island (26 hectares) which is a nature reserve and sanctuary of exotic and indigenous species, under the supervision of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. The island is a natural museum and home to many endemic and native animal and plant species. Its flora is mainly composed of coastal ebony forest and strand scrub vegetation.
