COVID-19 IN REUNION - TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE CHANGING
PRESS RELEASE
Saint-Denis,
By decree published in the official journal of February 12, the conditions of travel from and to Reunion are modified. These measures are immediately applicable and aim to limit the circulation of the OMICRON variant of COVID-19, in particular in the context of air travel to and from Reunion.
Trips to Reunion from mainland France, Mayotte or abroad
Given the health situation in Reunion, any person aged twelve or over wishing to travel to Reunion from mainland France or from a foreign country must have the negative result of an RT-PCR or antigen test carried out less 24 hours before boarding.
Vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers must present the following documents when checking in and boarding:
- Complete vaccination schedule;
- Results of a negative test within 24 hours.
Unvaccinated travelers
People who are not vaccinated can only travel if there is a compelling reason. These passengers must present the following documents at check-in and boarding:
- Proof of the compelling reason for travel;
- Results of a negative test within 24 hours;
- Declaration on honor attesting that they accept that a screening examination be carried out on their arrival in the territory and that they undertake to isolate themselves for a period of 7 days.
Non-vaccinated passengers, aged 12 to 17 and traveling with passengers with a complete vaccination schedule are not subject to these measures.
The list of compelling reasons depends on the area where the virus circulates. This list is set by the Ministry of Health and is defined by ministerial order.
Travelers from an orange or red zone
In addition to these provisions, people from a country classified in the orange or red zones must also be provided with a sworn statement attesting: - that they do not
show any symptoms of covid infection -19;
- that they are not aware of having been in contact with a confirmed case of covid-19 in the fourteen days preceding their trip.
Trips to mainland France
The pre-boarding test is canceled in the direction of Reunion - mainland for vaccinated travellers.
People who are not vaccinated can only travel if there is a compelling reason. These passengers must present the following documents on boarding:
- Proof of the compelling reason for travel;
- Results of a negative RT-PCR test less than 72 hours old or of an antigen test less than 48 hours old;
- Declaration on honor attesting that they accept that a screening examination be carried out upon their arrival in the territory.
These people are subject to isolation for 7 days upon their arrival in mainland France and will have to carry out a test at the end of the isolation period.
Non-vaccinated passengers, aged 12 to 17 and traveling with passengers with a complete vaccination schedule are not subject to these measures.
The test prior to departure for metropolitan France is no longer compulsory. On the other hand, passengers who have not been vaccinated may be tested on arrival and subject to isolation in the event of a
positive result.
Travel between Reunion, Mauritius and South Africa
The special provisions taken by ministerial decree restricting travel between Reunion, Mauritius and South Africa are repealed. Travel to these 2 destinations is subject to the general principle provided for the color zone to which they belong: orange for Mauritius and South Africa.
Maintenance of control measures from foreign countries
Given the still significant deterioration of the health situation in Reunion, antigenic tests will continue to be systematically imposed on all passengers arriving on flights arriving from foreign countries. An isolation measure will be taken by way of a prefectoral decree in the event of a positive result.
